Health Alliance Illinois Special Enrollment

The supplemental fully-insured HMO RFP dated November 15, 2012, did not include Health Alliance Illinois; therefore, all members currently covered under Health Alliance Illinois will need to change their carrier by January 31, 2013.

Letters, including a Special Enrollment Form, map and rate sheet, were mailed to all members enrolled in Health Alliance Illinois.  The letter advises the member to choose another health plan via the Special Enrollment Form and return to their Group Insurance Representative (GIR) no later than January 31, 2013.  The health plan election will be effective February 1, 2013.

If members do not return the completed form to their GIR by January 31, 2013, their health coverage will default to the Quality Care Health Plan (QCHP) and the member will be charged the applicable premium.

Members and dependents who have already met the pharmacy deductible while with Health Alliance Illinois will not have to meet a new deductible when switching to a new managed care plan or QCHP.  The pharmacy deductible will still apply to members and dependents who have not met the pharmacy deductible while with Health Alliance Illinois.

Special Note Regarding PCP National Provider Identifier (NPI) Numbers:

Health Alliance has confirmed that PCPs currently in the Health Alliance Illinois network will be part of the Health Alliance HMO network beginning February 1, 2013. Members should access the Health Alliance Illinois portion of Health Alliances website to find their PCPs national provider identifier (NPI) number required for the Special Enrollment Form. Health Alliance is working to add a message regarding their PCP networks on their website; however, the Health Alliance HMO network listing cannot be technically be updated until 2/1/13 since that is the date the new contract goes into effect. Members having questions about their desired provider should contact Health Alliance directly.

Special enrollment questions should be directed to your GIR.
