Preventive care includes vaccines, wellness exams and routine screenings. Vaccines help protect you and others from harmful diseases. Screenings detect medical issues early, when they’re often easier to treat. Together, it’s a powerful pair for overall health and wellness. Check your plan documents to learn if your plan covers a service. You can also call the number on your member ID card.

Vaccines help your immune system create antibodies that protect you from disease. With your benefit plan, you’re covered for a flu shot, plus, non-seasonal vaccines, like RSV, pneumonia, shingles and Tdap.

Screenings help spot medical issues early. Looking for a simple way to check in on your health? Routine screenings check for diseases or conditions before there are signs or symptoms. This can help you get early treatment or even avoid a health issue:
Flu shots and other vaccine services are also available at many locations within communities, such as senior citizen centers for the elderly. You may also be able to get these vaccinations from your doctor or at public health clinics. While preventive services are a covered benefit under most plans, check your plan documents or call the Member Services number on your medical ID card to verify your coverage. Remember to confirm with the provider that they accept your medical plan before receiving services.
You should not go to an emergency room/urgent care for vaccinations. Vaccinations are not an emergency/urgent service. You should get flu shots from your primary care physician (PCP). If you can’t get them from your PCP, you can go to an in-network walk-in clinic or retail pharmacy location.
