Be Well Illinois and Aetna have teamed up to bring you some NEW activities to support your wellbeing, including:

  • “Let’s Talk Menopause & Healthy Aging”. Join Dr. Joanne Armstrong and Dr. Sophia Chin from CVS Health for an open conversation about menopause. During the session, you’ll learn about:
    • What menopause is and common symptoms.
    • The impact of menopause on a woman’s overall health.
    • How to find services and support available for you and family members who are experiencing menopause and perimenopause.

    • About the speakers:
      • Dr. Joanne Armstrong, Vice President, Chief Medical Officer, Women’s Health and Genomics, CVS Health
      • With more than 20 years in the field both as a practicing OB-GYN and health policy expert, Dr. Armstrong’s mission is to help solve for women’s health needs through clinical, policy and societal lenses. Dr. Armstrong is vice president and chief medical officer of women’s health and genomics at CVS Health. She is also associate professor of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTH). 
      • At CVS Health, Dr. Armstrong leads the women’s health and genomics strategy, program/product development, and cost management initiatives across the company. In this role, she works with lines of business and external collaborators to drive innovation, transformation, and improve outcomes in women’s health and genomics on a national scale. 
      • As a practicing physician at UTH, Dr. Armstrong provides direct patient care and supports medical student and resident education. She has practiced in a variety of health care delivery systems, including academic, public health and private practice settings. 
      • Dr. Armstrong is a graduate of Cornell University (A.B.) and has additional training in epidemiology from the University of Michigan, School of Public Health (M.P.H.) She received her MD degree from Rutgers University, New Jersey Medical School and completed residency training in obstetrics and gynecology at Women and Infants Hospital of Rhode Island, Brown University. She is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology. She also completed a primary health care policy fellowship through the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. 
    • Dr. Sophia Chin, Senior Medical Director, Aetna
      • Dr. Chin is a board-certified Obstetrician-Gynecologist with over 16 years of international leadership experience in primary care, telemedicine, and women’s health. She earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Chicago and completed her residency at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Dr. Chin holds certifications from both the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ABOG) and the American Board of Quality Assurance and Utilization Review Physicians (ABQAURP). 
      • At Aetna, she has led and contributed to numerous enterprise initiatives focused on women’s health, member engagement, and clinical innovation. Now serving as Senior Medical Director, she continues to provide strategic and clinical expertise across CVS Health and Aetna.
      • Outside of work, Dr. Chin is a passionate foodie who loves exploring new flavors and culinary experiences.

      2. Learn how to evaluate app descriptions, user reviews, and developer information to determine whether an app is trustworthy before downloading it.

    • Online shopping has surged in popularity thanks to its convenience and accessibility, allowing shoppers to explore and buy products from the comfort of their own homes. However, taking certain precautions to make the most of this experience while keeping your information secure is critical. We will learn many key tips for safe online shopping, including using strong and unique passwords and regularly reviewing your financial statements.

      1. Identify common risks associated with online shopping, such as fraudulent websites and fake stores.
      2. Explore different payment options and understand which methods provide the best protection for online purchases.
      3. Develop skills to evaluate online retailers by examining customer reviews and ratings.

    • We will examine different types of digital passwords, including biometrics, image recognition, and one-time passwords (OTPs). Furthermore, we will highlight the essential role of two-factor authentication in improving security in today's digital landscape.

      1. Acknowledge passwords' essential role in protecting electronic resources and personal information. 
      2. Explore different password authentication methods, from traditional alphanumeric passwords to biometric recognition. 
      3. Evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of various password types regarding security and user convenience. 
      4. Learn about two-factor and multi-factor authentication and how they improve security by adding a unique layer of protection for your digital assets.
