Subject: Employee Owned and Controlled Housing

Effective March 20, 2024, the maximum reimbursement rate available for employee owned or controlled housing has been increased from 75% to 90% of the maximum available lodging rate for the area in which the employee is travelling. Additionally, the rules of the Governor’s Travel Control Board (GTCB) have been clarified to allow for the reimbursement of platform service fees, cleaning fees and taxes when utilizing short-term rental platforms such as Airbnb and VRBO. As a result, Travel Update 17-02 is antiquated and is hereby rescinded.
