The CMS professional development opportunities are offered and encouraged for all State of Illinois employees in an effort to upskill and develop the State of Illinois workforce.
The mission of CMS Learning & Professional Development is to provide quality learning and development resources in collaboration with agency needs to create a culture of continuous learning for all State of Illinois employees.
Our division offers a variety of learning opportunities to reach diverse learning styles such as in person training, live webinars, on-demand eLearning and staff retreats on topics related to professional development and leadership development. We have exciting opportunities to complete certificate programs on communication, leadership, coaching, mastering presentations, workplace inclusion, train-the-trainer, productivity, and so much more!

CMS University is the State of Illinois' internal, continuing and professional education portal designed to showcase the innovative programs offered by state agencies to address the training needs of our staff in a centralized location for all state employees. CMS University features training offered by numerous state agencies for SOI employees to attend free of charge.
